If you’re trying to eat more plant-based meals, one of the simplest things you can do is cook up a batch of beans.Seriously—this tiny habit can make a huge difference in how easy (and affordable!) it is to nourish your body.
Why Beans?
Beans are loaded with benefits:
- ✅ High in plant-based protein
- ✅ Excellent source of fiber (hello, gut health!)
- ✅ Help you feel full and satisfied
- ✅ Incredibly versatile for sweet or savory meals
And best of all? They’re super budget-friendly. A big bag of dried beans costs just a few dollars and can make enough to last the whole week—or longer!
How I Prep Beans to Make Life Easier
I cook a big batch of small white beans in my pressure cooker, then portion them out using a muffin tin. Once frozen, I pop them into a freezer bag and they’re ready to go whenever I need them.
This makes it easy to toss them into:
- 🥣 Soups & stews
- 🌯 Wraps & burritos
- 🥗 Salads & grain bowls
- 🥤 Even smoothies! (They blend in for a creamy boost of protein without any bean-y flavor even my grand daughter knows they’re there and still requests smoothie bowls regularly)

It’s My Little Secret to…
✔️ Eating more plant-based without overthinking it
✔️ Saving time on busy days
✔️ Fueling my body with real food
